Sign up for a painting workshop in the South of France!
If you are looking for authentic French painting workshops and classes with the Great Masters in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, drawing, attend the Moulin de Perrot, Academy of Fine Arts in Gilhac-et-Bruzac, the Rhône region of France. Not far from Provence and Valence, the Moulin de Perrot is an old mill that has been well maintained in an idyllic setting with beautiful gardens and huge trees protecting it for several centuries. The workshop guests are welcome to stay in the modern guest rooms, and will enjoy French cuisine throughout the week.
In June 2007, my mother and I attended a week’s class under the direction of the famous French artist Stéphane RUAIS at the Moulin de Perrot http://www.dicart-net.fr/PHOTOS/Ruais/img-RUAIS.htm. My mother, Diane, www.dianestoneart.com is an accomplished artist and told me American painting workshops are very different.
The French take a break for lunch and then an afternoon rest before painting in the afternoon, and in the evening the group gathers together for a long dinner and toasts, then attend a lecture on the concepts and basic principles of painting, or find a dance partner and dance away into the evening under the string of lights in the Moulin’s courtyard. We had several one-to-one instructions and a some demonstrations from Stéphane, and he adapted his teaching method to our skill level.
