Anguilla Day Trip
Anguilla is a serene island in the Northern Caribbean. “Tranquility wrapped in blue,” is the island’s tagline.
With only 16 miles long and 3 miles wide, this British Overseas Territory has 33 white sandy beaches, hidden coves, and transparent blue waters surrounding its coastline.
It’s called the culinary capital of the Caribbean, with over 100 restaurants, visitors savor lobster, crayfish, local dishes, and some rum punch.
The 16,000 local residents welcome visitors to their laid-back, secluded island, reached by small boats and planes. Only 7 miles from the mountainous island of St. Maarten, the flat landscape of Anguilla provides for constant ocean breezes.
We arrived to St. Maarten on a Windstar Cruise, and took a day trip to visit Anguilla’s beaches and a few luxury hotels. Also, we caught a couple barracuda on a fishing trip with Fun Time Charters on our way to this island.
Sharing some highlights from our Anguilla day visit.
Fishing on Anguilla
We departed the Ferry Terminal at St. Maarten, on Fun Time Charter’s boat. Located across from the airport, it was easy to find.
IMPORTANT! Don’t forget your passport! We did. It’s easy to forget when you’re on a cruise ship and going from one island to another. But we were leaving Dutch territory to visit British territory on Anguilla for the day trip.
Once we retrieved our passports we were off for Anguilla with Shane as our Captain and Wilson as First-Mate & Expert Fisherman.
Before reaching Blowing Point on Anguilla, we stopped near Cove Bay and fished for only a half hour. Within minutes, we reeled in Barracuda – two of them!
We hope to return to Anguilla, so we can fish longer and maybe catch some wahoo, marlin, and enjoy some other beach activities on this British island beauty.
There’s so much to explore here and visitors will be lured by its coral reefs, turquoise blue ocean, white sandy beaches!

We visited 3 hotel properties on our day trip to Anguilla, and loved each one with their unique location, design, and ambiance.
Most of our time, we spent at this luxury beach resort Malliouhana, a member of the Auberge Resorts Collection.
We were able to enjoy a Caribbean inspired lunch at Malliouhana Restaurant with exquisite views of the ocean. We also explored the gardens, pool, beach, and luxury oceanfront guest rooms at this resort.
There are 25 acres of lush, landscaped gardens that merge with one and a half miles of pristine white-sand beaches, and we didn’t want to leave! Hopefully we’ll return again soon.
One of the first hotels to be built on Anguilla is Cap Juluca, a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The property’s private villas are built in a Moroccan architectural style, and located right on the white sandy beach.
Just the week before my visit, a sand castle was built replicating Cap Juluca’s main building and was still intact when I arrived. My visit here was too brief and hope to return.
Four Seasons Anguilla:
Only was able to spend 15 mins at this property, but it’s modern, contemporary lines stand out on Anguilla’s coast. This Four Seasons offers 181 suites and rooms and the property is located on Mead’s Bay beach. Even from just our Anguilla Day Trip we fell in love and hope to one day return for a stay here too.
Global Adventuress thanks Fun Time Charters for hosting our boat transfers to/from St. Maarten to Anguilla, and for the fishing adventure off the shore of Anguilla.
We also thank Malliouhana for hosting our lunch during our day visit to the island.
